Having been dancing Salsa since 1998, when Sonja approached Angus in 2006 with the idea for a Salsa 'dance exercise' class he immediately realised what a good idea it was - as Salsa dancing was how he was staying in shape! Together they set up the first Latin DX (as it was first known) classes with Angus drawing on his 10+ years experience of teaching and DJing Salsa to put together high energy Salsa DX routines and playlists for classes and workshops. The classes soon grew (helped in part by the well publicised fitness benefits of dancing on countless TV shows!) and more were needed... as a result the Salsa DX team has been growing and growing and is now full of teachers who are equally as enthusiastic as Angus about the benefits to body and soul of a good workout to great music! Angus now splits his time between Salsa DX and Abanico Salsa and is still as passionate about all things Salsa as the day he started dancing - his classes guarantee to work you hard and keep you smiling..! |

Sonja first took up Salsa in 2003, mainly due to her love of Latin music, but also to tone-up after 4 children, (not to mention getting out for some 'me time'!). She was instantly hooked, setting up Exmouth Salsa & working with S/W Salsa expert Angus Peters on a regular basis. In 2006, Sonja approached to Angus determine whether Salsa music and routines could also be used to create a faster, fun, dynamic exercise class. So, using their combined skills, knowledge and passion for Salsa... Latin DX was born! Sonja initially assumed her role would be mainly administrative, but within a year she found herself teaching up to 15 classes a week and loving every minute of it! In 2009 Latin DX became Salsa DX in order to better reflect the class content, and classes are now taught at over 30 locations all over Devon and beyond! Sonja still teaches on a regular basis but is also heavily involved with the development, training & management of the ever-increasing Salsa DX instructor team! |

Ever since attending ballet and tap lessons from the age of 4, Deborah has had a passion for dance. Even after embarking on her career as a secondary school language teacher, then later teaching in primary schools, she has managed to fit in regular dance classes, ranging from ballroom and latin to flamenco. Fitness and exercise have always played an important part in her life, and from the moment she attended her first Salsa DX class, she knew she had found the perfect combination - Salsa rhythms, dance, aerobic exercise and fun. Deborah was delighted when she was offered the opportunity to become a Salsa DX instructor, and now enjoys communicating her love of teaching and dance to others and enabling them to get fit and have fun. |

Helen has a strong background in exercise having done a degree in Physical Education at Birmingham University, with Modern Creative Dance as her specialism. She then taught for several years in Primary & Special Needs schools. After having two children she decided to train as a Fitness Instructor and has been teaching Gym, Step & Dance Aerobics ever since. Having taken up Salsa DX in 2007 Helen, in her own words, "loved it, loved it, loved it!" and wanted to spread the word! |

Lesley is a professional Interior Designer/Teacher who moved to Devon in 2004 to design and build her own home - which has been featured in various magazines and on TV. She began Salsa dancing 3 years ago and immediately fell in love with the dance and the music, attending 2 or 3 classes weekly and social dancing regularly in the South West and further afield, also spends her holidays dancing and learning Salsa abroad. As a result of this Lesley started Salsa DX and now has a passion to pass on her enjoyment of the dance and music, believing it is the only exercise that is such fun it doesn't feel like exercise, and would challenge anyone to keep still once the music starts! |

I attended my first Salsa DX class in January 2009 and just minutes into the lesson I realised that this was a fantastic form of dance exercise. As well as this it was fun and energetic, my brain received a good workout and the music just "got me"! I soon found myself doing several classes each week and one year later I was to start teaching my own. I get enormous pleasure and satisfaction from teaching Salsa DX and seeing the joy on everyone's face as they learn and adapt new steps and routines. To witness the continual improvements in fitness levels and dancing is just a delight. I am as hooked today on Salsa DX as I was when I first started learning and I can only hope that my enthusiasm is catching! |

It was in September 2007 that, after being told time and time again by friends that "you'll love it" that Nicky finally went to my first Salsa DX class... and how right they were! She got so caught up in the music and enjoyed the routines, that "I didn't even realise how much exercise I'd done until the class was over!" She loved the fact that it was a different routine each week, so you didn't get bored... coupled with great sounds it was a winner with her. Angus & Sonja approached me in early 2009 and asked if I would ever fancy teaching DX? I was stunned...me? teach? wow? It didn't take me long to say yes....and I'm so glad I did, because I love it... and hopefully that comes across in my classes |

Nick started dancing Salsa in 2007, and since 2008 has been a keen Salsero and Salsa DXer - attending classes in the UK and abroad! He has a background in teaching/coaching Skater hockey, which he did for 15 years, where he took the Great Britain woman's team to International tournaments across Europe. Nick started teaching Salsa DX in May 2009 and since then has built a loyal following at his classes. |

Sue is a RSA Qualified Fitness Instructor who has many years experience of teaching a variety of fitness classes. She has also gained medals in disco dancing and enjoyed participating in team competitions. Now Sue has the 'Salsa Bug' and has decided to turn her dance talents and teaching expertise towards Salsa DX. Sue prides herself on being a patient but highly motivated, lively and inspirational instructor. She pays particular attention to detail to ensure that everyone can learn the cutting edge choreography that is featured in the classes. You're guaranteed to leave her classes with a smile on your face and wanting to come back for more!! |
